Have you experienced the frustrating defeat of trying to wrestle your hair into a stylish bun in the morning? Don’t give up! The bun is a go-to hairstyle for celebs, models and working girls alike and was one of the most popular hairstyles on and off the runway this year, noted Vogue Magazine.
Here are a couple techniques that only take a couple of minutes, and you can master on the first try:
The ballet bun
Perhaps one of the easiest buns to master, the ballet bun starts as a ponytail. Next, pull your hair through the elastic so it forms a small bun and wrap the excess hair around the hair tie. Secure with another elastic and you’re done!
The half bun
According to Cosmopolitan Magazine the half bun is a very easy, yet trendy hairstyle as it only requires you to deal with half the mass of hair. Simply pull your hair into half ponytail and twist into a mini bun. Secure by either using a new hair tie, or by tucking into the original. Voila, now you’ve reached celebrity status.
The sock bun
This is a great technique for those who don’t want to rely on their own bun-making skills. Locate an old – and clean – tube sock, and cut off the bottom, where your toes would go. Then roll the fabric down from the top of sock so it forms a donut. Secure your hair in a ponytail with a hair tie and pull the sock to the base of your hair, right around the elastic. Evenly fan your hair over the sock so no fabric shows and tuck in to the elastic. To avoid fly-away hairs and hold more securely, stick bobby pins into the bun as well.
The braided bun
Here’s a style that will add some texture to your look. The braided bun starts with a low ponytail secured right by your neck. Then loosely braid your hair and secure with an elastic. Next, wrap the braid around the base of your hair and hold in place with another elastic. With this style, it’s important to make sure the elastic isn’t too tight or it could make the braid look funky, so if you’re worried about it slipping use bobby pins.
Don’t let that perfect hair go to waste. A bun is such a classic look it’ll go with anything. Play on that quintessential style with a blouse and cardigan, skinny jeans and heels and accessorize with the BABY-G BGA131-1B watch.
