Here are five different ways to rock your ponytail.

A ponytail may seem like a quick fix to get your hair out of your face, but it’s so much more. It’s a style that can add a little edge or elegance to your attire. Whether you’re getting ready to see a concert with your closest friends or heading out for date night, there are ponytails for every occasion.

Here are five different ways to rock the ‘do.

1. The pony bow
Fashion Diva Design suggested this adorable look. Start by putting your hair in a low pony. Then, grab two thick strands – one from each side of the ponytail. Next, you’re going to tie them together in the same way that you’d tie your shoes. Ultimately, the goal here is to make a bow out of your hair. It should cover your hair tie completely. If you’re unsuccessful on your first few attempts, try again. Make sure you use enough hair so the bow comes out nice and big. It’s the perfect pony for a special occasion, like a wedding, bridal shower or holiday party. Put on your fancy little getup and rock the pony bow.

2. The phony tail
Are you worried that you don’t have long enough hair to rock a pony tail? Think again. You can pull this look off. You just need some extensions. Think of them as your secret little helpers. The Beauty Department dubbed this particular pony “the phony tail.” It might be easiest if you wash your hair prior to starting so it’s easy to comb. With your locks slightly damp, brush them back and arrange the pieces into a high ponytail. Then, attach your extensions and apply some hair spray to your entire mane.

3. The bohemian princess
As demonstrated on the A Life Time of Rain blog, there are a number of ways to give your ponytail an earthy look. One way is quick and easy. Tie your hair into a low pony. Grab your pony close to the hair tie, then move your hands about two inches down and add another hair tie. Do this as many times as you can until you run out of hair. If you locks are on the shorter side, only add hair ties every inch or so. Complete your look by rocking a headband or funky hat.

4. The luscious tail
There’s a hack to make any ponytail seem fuller and longer. Simply put half of your hair into a high ponytail. Next, tie the remainder of your hair into a second ponytail just below the first one. Use your hands to make sure the top ponytail covers the bottom one. Add a little hairspray or bobby pins to keep any loose pieces in place, then you’re good to go!

5. The sassy ponytail
The Every Girl blog posted suggestions on how to make your ponytail sassier. The list includes: applying a texturizing spray, teasing your hair with a comb, putting your hair into a ponytail, wrapping your ponytail with a strand of your own hair, finishing up with pomade and a bit of hairspray. This pony is a perfect match for your favorite sporty outfit, complete with a BABY-G BA110NC-6A watch.
