Feel fab with these five baking soda hacks.

There’s no need to spend a ton of money on beauty products when you have an effective solution right in your cupboard: baking soda. Here are five baking soda hacks that will have you feeling pampered in no time!

1. Removes chlorine from your hair
According to Healthy Food Mind blog, you can use baking soda to extract chlorine from your hair after a dip in the pool. Just add a 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to 17 ounces of shampoo, then apply the mixture to your mane and rinse as you normally would. You can also create a solution that will last all summer by simply pouring 1 teaspoon of baking soda into your bottle of shampoo. Say goodbye to chlorine-scented hair!

2. Gives you a salon-style manicure
Allure magazine pointed out that baking soda is an excellent solution to smooth nails. If you’ve ever had a gel manicure, you know that when you remove the polish, your natural nails are in rough shape. They’re often covered in ridges and indents, which can make future nail care tricky. However, three parts baking soda and one part water works great as a scrub. Add a little to your fingernails, then polish them. Give them time to dry with your BABY-G BA110BC-1A watch and in no time, your hands will be looking just as lovely as before you got a gel manicure.

3. Whitens your teeth
Toothpaste company Colgate confirmed that baking soda can whiten your teeth. If you’d like to make your pearly whites shine even brighter, brush them gently with a smidgen of baking soda and water a couple times a week. Just remember to keep brushing regularly with toothpaste, because it has ingredients that baking soda doesn’t, like fluoride, which strengthens your teeth.

4. Makes skin feel good after a shave
Good Housekeeping magazine confirmed that dabbing a small amount of baking soda to your legs post-shave is the perfect way to sooth sensitive skin. It can also provide relief to areas that have razor burn.

5. Works as a face wash
Ever reached for your face wash only to find that the bottle’s empty? From there, you either have to run to the store and re-shower or go a day without washing your pores. Well, not anymore. Step out of the shower and reach for the baking soda, because it makes a great makeshift scrub. Apply a small amount to a damp washcloth and run it over your face. Rinse when you’re done.
